Mear, Crok, Solo.... it's on at Alexandra Palace!

I recently teamed up with UK graffiti heavyweights Mear and Crok for some Sunday painting in the park action.
The day was a scorcher and the location was Alexandra Palace which has a lovely view of London and its romantic smog. Local resident Sally Hulin was so impressed by the art taking place she asked if it was possible for her bin to be painted, which had to be done as most of my art is considered by some rubbish or ends up there!!
This spot looks to be a favourite so expect more hits than a boyband with six-packs on this one!

Love will win. Solo and Rabodiga paint together to protest at the lack of love.

During June I teamed up with the accomplished Spanish artist, Rabodiga to paint a one day wall on the Stockwell Park Estate.
The theme of the mural was 'Love will win' and this was thrashed out after many a debate about the lack of love in society and our need as artists to promote it. Drippy love hearts were to be the stars of this show as well as Rabodigas sharp drip portrait.

Upfest Bristol

Upfest festival is now in its second year and is put together by Steve, Kim and Jake.
Their initial concept was simple, to hold an annual urban paint festival in Bristol inviting artists from all over the country and from overseas. This years event attracted 140 artists to paint.

Upfest was also raising money for NACOA (National Association for Children of Alcoholics), a very worthy cause.

Myself and Bristol legend Jody teamed up to knock out a wall for this event at The Try Again pub. This great establishment on Greenway Bush Lane and the junction with Lower Sidney Street was so named because of the earlier attempts to obtain a licence which were repeatedly rejected. One day they got lucky. The current landlord is John and unfortunately you wont get any discount on ales mentioning you saw his pub on this blog but if you are in the Bristol area, pay it a visit and have a look at some great artwork in a real down to earth Pub.

This mural was painted as part of a ongoing series on the Stockwell Park Estate. Joining me on the day was the delightful Kymberleigh Kerr modelling an amazing outfit designed by Delyse Williams.
The outfit took a week to make and was inspired by money, catch them on Facebook and I'll be uploading some more pictures soon!

Painting in Brest, France.

In May I was invited to the fine French city of Brest in Brittany to take part in the Rue St Malo Festival. This street is one of the oldest in the city that is still intact.

During the Second World War the allies bombarded this fortress city from the air inflicting massive damage. Brest at that time had a U-boat base and was virtually inpenetrable from land due to its heavy defences.

The idea for the piece was to create an image that would resonate with the residents and festival goers alike and also be something people could take part in. I was assisted by Ya and Les Lionnes En Cage, a collective from Brest who paint the city. (leslionnesencage@live.fr)
